Two sugar factories in Bashkiria have completed processing sugar beets for the 2023 harvest. The Chishminsky sugar factory and the Raevsakhar Company produced 227 thousand tons of sugar - 11.4% more than the previous season's raw materials.
The volume of sugar produced exceeds the needs of the region's population several times. Remember that the medical consumption norm is 8 kg per year per person.
In the last agricultural season, industrial crops were cultivated in 19 regional districts, covering 47.5 thousand hectares, from which 1.6 million tons of root crops were collected.
Sugar remains one of the region's main export products. The volume of granulated sugar exports in 2023 amounted to more than 71 thousand tons worth $48.9 million (2022 - 23.5 thousand tons). Bashkir sugar was mainly shipped to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, and other countries.
In addition, sugar beet processing products—granulated beet pulp—are sent abroad. This natural feed is used in farms specializing in raising farm animals. Last year, manufacturers sent 7.8 thousand tons of products worth almost $2 million to China and Kazakhstan.
