According to a sample survey in Bashkiria, the labor force aged 15 years and older in September–November 2023 exceeded 1.939 million people. Of these, about 1.897 million, or 97.8% of the labor force, were classified as engaged in economic activities. Another 42.5 thousand people (2.2%) are considered unemployed, meeting the criteria of the International Labor Organization. They did not have a job or gainful occupation, were looking for work, and were ready to start work in the survey week.
In Russia, the economically active population in September-November last year was about 76.302 million; in the Volga Federal District, it was more than 14.752 million.
As for registered unemployment, by the end of last year, 12.6 thousand citizens not engaged in labor activities were registered with the employment service of Bashkiria. Of these, 11.8 thousand people had unemployed status, the regional Ministry of Labor reported.
The level of registered unemployment was 0.6% of the labor force. In December 2023, 2.6 thousand people received unemployed status, and 2.2 thousand people were employed in the month.
By the end of last year, there were 46.5 thousand available jobs in the republican vacancy bank. This is 3.9% less than in November 2023.
