Bashkiria is second in Russia for gas filling stations

At the end of 2023, Bashkiria took second place in Russia in terms of the number of gas filling stations, the press service of the republican government reported.

Currently, the region has 51 CNG filling stations. This is only five stations less than the leading Rostov region.

Thanks to the Energy Development program, converting a personal car, freight transport, and bus to gas motor fuel is possible in Bashkiria.

To do this, the vehicle must be no older than 15 years from the current year, no earlier than 2009. Compressed natural gas halves refueling costs and increases engine service life by 1.5-2 times.

Methane is more environmentally friendly and safer than gasoline or diesel. The gas-filling infrastructure in the region is also actively developing, noted the Ministry of Transport and Road Facilities of the Republic of Belarus.

“We continue the work carried out in Bashkiria to transfer vehicles to use natural gas as a motor fuel. Over the past four years, at the expense of republican funds, it was possible to purchase 280 NefAZ methane buses for Bashavtotrans. In total, the main state carrier already has 406 such vehicles. Also, 132 passenger buses of private carriers run on gas engine fuel,” said Prime Minister of the Government of Bashkortostan Andrey Nazarov.

As Bashinform News Agency previously reported, in 2024, Bashkiria expects to receive funding from the federal budget for 393 million rubles to subsidize gas-filling infrastructure. This will support the construction of 13 new CNG filling stations.

Promising areas for implementing projects in the Abzelilovsky, Baltachevsky, Buzdyaksky, Ufa, Uchalinsky, and Oktyabrsky districts have been identified.
