Bashkiria in leading regions in MSW management efficiency

Bashkortostan entered the top 10 regions of the country in terms of efficiency of municipal solid waste (MSW) management. This was announced by the Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Republic, Niyaz Fazylov, at a weekly operational meeting held by the Head of the region, Radiy Khabirov.

The Head of the region noted that the work of Bashkortostan in this direction was highly appreciated by the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Victoria Abramchenko.

“I would like to note the active work of individual regions of our country. The Republic of Bashkortostan achieved the most noticeable positive changes in the ranking of regions in terms of efficiency in the field of waste management. The region rose to ninth place, gaining 47 points in the Green Rating table over the year,” Victoria Abramchenko emphasized.

Niyaz Fazylov noted that over the past five years, Bashkortostan has ensured planned regular garbage collection, introduced a system for monitoring the quality of waste management services, created 37.1 thousand solid waste accumulation sites, and quadrupled the number of containers. For the separate accumulation of waste, 9.5 thousand sites in all municipalities were equipped with appropriate containers. The equipment fleet of regional operators was updated by 20 percent.

Head of Bashkortostan also noted that waste removal in these territories has improved after transferring service areas from the Dyurtyulimeliovodstroy Company to other relocation operators.
