RIA Novosti showed a diagram of the M-12 highway and calculated how travel time from major Russian cities to Moscow would be reduced. For example, traveling from Ufa to Moscow 4 hours faster will be possible.
The M-12 East Expressway is part of the international transport route Europe - Western China. The M-12 Moscow – Kazan – Yekaterinburg – Tyumen highway passes through the territory of the Moscow, Vladimir, Nizhny Novgorod regions, the Chuvash Republic, and the Republic of Tatarstan.
Before the announcement of the route extension, it was assumed that its length was more than 800 km. This information will be updated shortly. According to the government decree, the route will be extended by including a section of the M-7 Volga highway Kazan - Dyurtyuli. In addition, the M-12 will consist of the Durtyuli-Achit section under construction, the Achit-Ekaterinburg section of the P-242 Perm-Ekaterinburg highway, and the P-351 Ekaterinburg-Tyumen highway.
Earlier, Bashinform News Agency reported that the M-12 highway Dyurtyuli - Achit section is more than a third ready.
