More than 10 million people have mortgage loans in Russia

At the end of the first half of the year, the number of mortgage borrowers in Russia reached 10 million, reports the press service of the Bank of Russia. Every second such loan in January-June was issued for more than 25 years, although a year earlier, there were about 30%. In January-June, 39% of mortgage loans were given to borrowers over 65 years old at the time of scheduled debt repayment.

8 out of 10 people who took out a mortgage in the second quarter already had a consumer loan. About 6% of them may have taken out a personal loan to pay for a down payment.

As Bashinform News Agency reported, by September 1, the volume of mortgage loans in the republic increased by 96.2% year-on-year and amounted to about 152.26 billion rubles. And the number of mortgage transactions in January-August this year increased by 46% - more than 85.87 thousand transactions.

In general, there were another 2 million more borrowers in January- June, their total number reaching 47 million people. The regulator's release notes that the number of borrowers with three or more loans is mainly growing - 11.2 million people. This suggests that the growth in lending is accompanied by an increase in the debt load of citizens, experts comment.

Credit cards are trendy: the number of unique borrowers on them increased by 3 million over the year. Their total number is 23 million, equal to the number of borrowers on cash loans.
