“We often visit Bashkortostan and receive our friends in the Republic of Belarus, and today, during the meeting, we agreed to intensify contacts.” This was stated by Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko, answering questions from journalists.
“Almost every meeting gives new impetus and an area that we begin to work on together. Today, we stated that in just a few years, we have managed, if I may use such a word, to “promote” several essential topics. Yesterday, you saw the ceremony of presenting the keys to Belarusian equipment. I was impressed. I think you do, too, how warmly people received this event. We will certainly increase the volume of cooperation in mechanical engineering. This is our leading area. The republic is paying great attention to updating the fleet of passenger transport, municipal vehicles, and freight vehicles, especially, as I understand it, on the eve of the anniversary of the city of Ufa, which is approaching. We are working on caterpillar tractors together with a Bashkortostan enterprise. This is such a new direction in our machine-building line. This is only part of what we have in our portfolio.
Today, Radiy Khabirov recalled the instructions of the Head of the Belarusian State to reach a trade turnover level of 1 billion US dollars. We currently only have such trade turnover with six regions of the Russian Federation. This is indeed a serious task that we must complete. Bashkortostan should at least become the seventh region; all the groundwork is there. We see a commitment to work a well-balanced policy pursued by local authorities to stimulate the creation of new industries in the republic. This is not just what we saw yesterday. Following Amkodor, other Belarusian enterprises will seriously consider creating a production site here to take advantage of all the preferences the republic provides and the opportunity to work in the vast Russian market with these products. There is a lot of work ahead.
Concluding my speech, I once again congratulate our friends on the holiday. Thank you for finding the time on such a difficult day for the organization to hold a meeting and constructive negotiations with our delegation,” noted Roman Golovchenko.
