In August, the National Bank of the Republic reported that inflation in the food sector amounted to 2.8% compared to August 2022 in Bashkiria. Over the month, prices increased by 0.97%. The main factors are an increase in costs for manufacturers and suppliers against the backdrop of a weakening ruble and a reduction in the supply of certain types of food.
Due to the weakening of the ruble, imported fruits that need to be transported from afar - lemons, pears, bananas, and especially oranges - have become more expensive (because, in addition, the supply of these fruits has decreased due to a bad harvest).
The summer decline in cucumber prices this year ended earlier than usual - due to the heat, their harvest in the open ground was small, and already in August, prices began to rise again.
Experts attribute the rise in prices for meat products to the increase in the cost of imported feed additives and vaccines against the backdrop of a weakening ruble. The costs of meat producers and processors for transporting and personnel and maintaining foreign equipment have also increased. As for prices for chickens and eggs, another factor accelerating price growth was the spread of avian influenza in several regions. Unfortunately, this problem also affected the republic in August - an outbreak of bird flu occurred at the Bashkirskaya poultry farm. The results of this may have an impact in the future.
As Bashinform News Agency reported, beef, poultry, and pork prices in August increased by 1.4-4.3% compared to July, and eggs by 3%.
