A scientific and practical seminar, “Soybeans and corn,” was held in the Aurgazinsky district. It was attended by representatives of district administrations, managers, and agronomists of agricultural enterprises.
“Given that pig and poultry farming are developing in the republic, which requires feed with high-quality protein, soybeans are simply necessary for the region. This year, the share of soybeans in the crop rotation structure has been increased to 10 thousand hectares. Ideally, 100 thousand hectares should be allocated for it,” said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture of Bashkiria Ilshat Fazrakhmanov, opening the event.
Soybean is a new crop for the region, the Ministry of Agriculture noted. If soybeans were imported from abroad in previous years, more and more farms are taking up their cultivation today. Soybeans have very high feed value. This leguminous oilseed crop is used in flour, haylage, hay, grass meal, cake, and meal for feeding all farm animals and poultry.
Scientists believe that it is economically profitable to grow soybeans; it is also a good predecessor - after soybeans, it is recommended to sow winter wheat, which can yield 1.5-2 times more yield.
They are successfully learning to grow soybeans at the Salavat farm in Aurgazin, based on which the practical part of the seminar was held. Manager Vasily Fedorov noted that culture also requires warmth, and it is not easy to work with it. However, the farm has been sowing soybeans for four years, increasing the area each time.
While soybeans provide protein for pigs and poultry, dairy farming needs corn.
The seminar participants inspected experimental plots with new soybean varieties and corn hybrids from the largest Russian seed companies.
This year's soybean sown area amounted to 10.5 thousand hectares (in 2022 - 8.7 thousand hectares). The expected gross harvest is 6.8 thousand tons, yielding 0.65 tons/ha.
