According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Bashkiria, 46% of fields with winter and spring crops have been mowed in the region - 786 thousand hectares. The average yield of cereals and legumes is 2.03 t/ha.
At the same time, it is time to sow winter crops for next year's harvest. The Ministry of Agriculture notes that farms should plant more areas of crops of winter forms. Despite some risks, they always show better yields than spring ones. For example, this year, data were given on collecting 1.9 t/ha of spring crops and 2.5 t/ha of winter crops.
The areas of winter crops should be increased to 600,000 hectares, the Ministry of Agriculture suggests. This is almost a two-fold increase - about 319 thousand hectares were sown for this year's crop.
As a result of the winter, 94% of winter crops were in normal condition, and 6% were in bad shape. The greatest danger to crops is thaw periods, when an ice crust can form, preventing the plants from breathing. On the contrary, even severe frosts will not harm them with a sufficient height of snow cover.
At the same time, severe droughts in recent years, with the risk of fires and the spread of insects, reduce the chances of spring cereals for good harvests.
However, farms must have enough personnel and equipment for the timely sowing of winter crops - after all, these works must be carried out simultaneously with the ongoing harvesting campaign.
