Bashkortostan and Moscow Government intend to develop unmanned aerial systems

Tatyana Aksyutina

At the XXVI St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin signed an agreement on cooperation between the governments of Moscow and Bashkortostan in developing unmanned aerial systems.

In March 2023, based on the metropolitan industrial park "Rudnevo", the federal center of competence "Unmanned aerial systems" (UAS) was created - a primary research and production center that includes a flight test complex, a center for collective use, a laboratory research center and a training - methodical center.

By 2030, a regional network of research and production centers in the country’s most significant regions will be created based on UAS.

The agreement provides for joint participation in the implementation of projects aimed at the development of unmanned aircraft. In particular, unmanned aerial systems accredited in the republic will be able to be tested in the flight test complex of the Rudnevo industrial park, where UAS operators will also be trained.

Recall that at SPIEF-2023, Bashkortostan presented the first Russian-certified heavy helicopter-type drone BAS-200 developed by the Russian Helicopters holding of the Rostec State Corporation. Its serial production has been organized in the republic.

The helicopter-type UAS-200 is designed according to the classic single-rotor scheme with a tail rotor and is equipped with a rotary piston engine with a capacity of 54 horsepower. In 2021, the model was presented at the MAKS air show. The car became the first unmanned participant in the air show's flight program, flying in automatic mode.

Bashkortostan is the first and only region that has received an experimental legal regime that allows, without bureaucratic barriers, to launch into the sky any aircraft manufactured on our republic’s territory.

The region intends to develop functional services in 4 priority areas: agriculture and forestry, security, and cargo transportation. Heavy unmanned systems UAS-200 are ready to be used in their activities by the companies Gazprom Transgaz Ufa, Bashkirenergo, Bashkiravtodor, and Bashinformsvyaz.
