Experts: industrial production growth in Bashkiria is due to imposed sanctions

Federal economists and political scientists commented on the continued industrial production growth in Bashkiria in the first four months of 2023.

“The growth of industrial production is associated with positive dynamics in the mining and metallurgical industries, for the products of which there is a great demand. Pharmaceuticals have contributed, perhaps due to a decrease in the presence of foreign manufacturers, and mechanical engineering due to an increase in state defense orders and civilian contracts,” says industrial expert Leonid Khazanov.

“The fact of growth is connected with the quality and efficiency of management, and both business and ordinary residents of the region become its beneficiaries. This will primarily affect people and the creation of new jobs. The federal government always supports the leaders of those regions where the population’s standard of living is growing, not falling,” says Dmitry Zhuravlev, Director General of the Institute of Regional Problems.

As we said earlier, in April, the industrial production index in Bashkiria amounted to 110% compared to the same period in 2022. At the same time, the average Russian indicator for April was 105.2%.
