Foreign trade turnover of Bashkiria and Belarus increased by 57% for first quarter of 2023

The foreign trade turnover of Bashkiria and Belarus for the first quarter of 2023 increased by 57%, the republic government told the Bashinform News Agency. The quarter results were summed up at a working group meeting on developing cooperation between the two republics before the X Forum of the Regions of Russia and Belarus.

Rustam Muratov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Bashkiria, Minister of Economic Development and Investment Policy of the Republic, noted that the growing trade turnover between the republics is a sign of effectively built cooperation. According to Rustam Muratov, since the beginning of this year, Belarus’s representatives have visited Bashkiria, and the parties have signed several cooperation agreements. Thus, light industry enterprises of the two republics agreed on cooperation in producing meta-aramid and para-aramid fabrics. Elderly people also had a rest in Belarus under the program "Bashkir-Belarusian Longevity". The first tourist group left Bashkiria on April 24.

At the meeting, working group members discussed cooperation issues in industry, transport, agriculture, and tourism. The Belarusian Company UKH Belkommunmash plans to organize the modernization of rolling trams in Ufa shortly. In addition, as part of the upcoming visit of a delegation of agricultural producers from Bashkiria to Belarus to participate in the International Specialized Exhibition BelAgro-2023, it is planned to discuss with Belarusian colleagues issues of cooperation in the field of seed production and forestry as well as the interaction between agricultural universities of the two republics.

The Minister of Foreign Economic Relations and Congress Activities of Bashkiria, Margarita Bolycheva, said that Belarus, according to the results of the first quarter of this year, ranks fourth in the foreign trade turnover of Bashkiria. Exports to Belarus increased by 60% compared to last year due to the supply of chemical and engineering, metals, and food products.
