Moscow trams began to arrive in Ufa. According to the press service of the Ufa mayor's office, according to an agreement between the administration of Ufa and the government of Moscow, 7 trams of the Tatra model will be transferred to the capital of the republic free of charge.
The first tram has already arrived at depot No. 2. After maintenance, documentation, and passing all preparatory procedures. The tram is planned to be released on the line in the northern part of the city.
The remaining trams will be delivered weekly. Until mid-May 2023, all wagons should arrive in the city.
Although Moscow's trams are no longer new, they are much younger than those in Ufa, whose average wear and tear is 98%. In addition, the capital transfers used vehicles to the regions free of charge, which does not create an additional burden on the municipal budget. Considering the cost of a new tram car of about 30 million rubles, purchasing 7 units would require about 200 million rubles, which is significant for the city's budget.
In the late 1990s, Ufa received used trams previously operated in East Germany. The purchase at a very affordable price of about three dozen German trams, which were in excellent technical condition, made it possible to update and maintain the electric transport fleet in the face of the complex economic realities of those years.
As Bashinform News Agency previously reported, in 2021, it was planned to transfer 23 KTM 71-623-02 trams and 27 Tatra trams from Moscow to Ufa, but these plans still need to be implemented. However, even the delivery of 7 serviceable cars will significantly improve the tram service in the northern part of the city.
