Chinese company plans to build full-cycle plant for agricultural machinery production in Bashkiria

The Head of Bashkiria, Radiy Khabirov, met with Xinghua Zhang, director general of the foreign division of the Chinese company Zoomlion, one of the world's largest manufacturers of agricultural, construction and road equipment.

The parties discussed Zoomlion's project to localize the assembly of heavy machines in Russia and, in the future, to launch full-cycle production.

“The meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping was a powerful signal that the interaction between our countries is moving to a new level, including the regional one,” said Xinghua Zhang. – We have intentions to work in Bashkortostan. We want to start building the enterprise as soon as possible. Since we will be making the plant from scratch, we need a strong local partner with the necessary experience and infrastructure.”

Radiy Khabirov stressed that Bashkortostan is one of the leading regions in the national investment climate rating. The republic also has a wide range of measures to support entrepreneurial initiatives.

“I studied Zoomlion's experience with Belarusian machine builders. We are ready to cooperate and create a new production. I believe there is great potential for our joint work,” said Radiy Khabirov.

Representatives of the machine-building holding noted that creating an assembly site would reduce the cost of production and attract local component suppliers. Radiy Khabirov proposed to the Chinese side to jointly determine the operator from the republic who will deal with organizational issues. The Head of the Region also said he was ready to provide sites in existing industrial parks with developed infrastructure and communications.

“We are constantly looking for strong and competent partners, including from China. We are certainly interested in projects in the field of industrial cooperation. We have a developed industry, high competencies in various industries,” said Radiy Khabirov.

Following the meeting, the Head of Bashkortostan proposed at the end of May 2023 to discuss the progress of the project via videoconference.

Zoomlion AG has offices in 21 countries around the world. The subsidiary in Russia is Zumlion Heavy Industry Rus LLC. In 2021, the official dealer of the Chinese company in Bashkortostan, the agricultural enterprise Agrotechservice, delivered the first batch of Zoomlion tractors to the Ermekeyevsky district.
