Tax-related crimes responsibility will be mitigated in Russia

There will be a “right to make a mistake” for Russian entrepreneurs. Irina Pankina, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on State Construction and Legislation, a deputy from Bashkiria, explained to the Bashinform News Agency that criminal cases on crimes related to tax evasion and other obligatory payments by business representatives would not be initiated. Open criminal cases will be subject to termination if the entrepreneur pays the arrears, penalties, and fines in full.

The law adopted by the State Duma aims to humanize criminal legislation regarding tax crimes.

“This law is one of the steps to reduce the burden on domestic business and aims to support the Russian economy in current conditions. The changes will allow Russian businesses to continue to develop and grow stronger. Our task now is to support Russian entrepreneurship as much as possible, preserve jobs and production, and expand import substitution,” says Irina Pankina.
