Soil work completed in Eastern Exit Tunnel

The most voluminous and technologically complex stage of construction has been completed in the Eastern Exit Tunnel - tunneling work. It took the builders of the Eastern Exit about three years to complete them.

“Builders have finished working with soils and can now start building permanent structures. This work will last until June of this year,” said Asabali Zakavov, director general of the Bashkir Concession Company.

The overall technical readiness of the Eastern Exit as of March 2023 is 62.7%. The volume of work performed on both tunnels is 65%.

To date, builders are building the southern tunnel's upper, lower, and side parts. Monolithic structures are cast by workers immediately, using modern equipment using continuous concreting technology. Concreting of the foundation for the road surface and construction of engineering networks continues in the northern tunnel.

The tunnel is being built around the clock. 2344 people and 236 units of exceptional equipment work at the construction site.

“The eastern exit will reduce the load on existing city highways and increase their capacity by providing an additional exit to the M-5 Ural highway. In addition, the Vostochny Exit will connect the center of Ufa with the Zaufimye prospective housing construction zone. It is assumed that vehicles will be able to drive through the tunnels at a speed of 80 km/h,” reminded Alexander Klebanov, Minister of Transport and Roads of Bashkiria.

The eastern exit is a tunnel section 1.2 km long, a 2.7 km long bridge with a flyover across the Ufa River, and a 10-kilometer road with an entrance to the M-5 Ural. The commissioning of the facility is scheduled for the end of 2023.

Vostochny exit is the largest infrastructure project in Bashkortostan and the Volga Federal District, implemented under a concession agreement concluded in 2017 between the government of Bashkiria and Bashkir Concession Company LLC (part of VTB Infrastructure Holding).
