National halal standards are introduced in Russia

For the first time, national halal standards are being introduced in Russia. The project technical committee for standardization No.704 “Halal products and services”, which includes Roskachestvo, has developed new GOSTs.

The standards come into force on March 1 and June 1, 2023, respectively, and will be assigned to the project technical committee.

When developing the first national halal standards, the requirements of international standards were taken into account, which will facilitate Russia's integration into international halal standardization systems as an equal partner and create favorable conditions for Russian manufacturers to enter the global halal market.

Earlier, to form an effective and reliable infrastructure for the halal products market in Russia, at the government level, it was decided to create a national Center of Competence in the field of halal products and services based on Roskachestvo. The activities of the Center include standardization, certification, product quality monitoring, and the promotion of certified Russian halal products in the domestic market and abroad.
