Russians will be able to arrange credit holidays for consumer loans from March 2023, Anatoly Aksakov, head of the Duma Committee on the financial market, said to Izvestia. The corresponding law is planned to be adopted before the end of winter.
It is assumed that to receive a deferral of 6 months, and the borrower must meet the following criteria:
- Incomes decreased by more than 30% compared to the average monthly earnings for the previous year;
- The loan amount should be from 450 thousand to 1.6 million rubles.
The Bank of Russia proposes to make this measure of support to the population permanent, similar to mortgage holidays. The mechanism could be used in difficult situations: in case of illness or job loss. According to the Central Bank, this will reduce the percentage of non-performing loans for banks and stabilize the problematic financial situation in the banking sector.
