The beekeepers of Bashkiria received state support for the development of farms for 14.5 million rubles last year, said Deputy Prime Minister - Republican Minister of Agriculture Ilshat Fazrakhmanov.

As the head of the agricultural department explained, the funds were directed in the form of grants and subsidies for three main programs.

“Under the Agrostartup program, five beekeepers became the owners of grants for 13 million rubles. Four beekeepers received 1.3 million rubles from subsidizing agricultural cooperatives. In addition, last year, five more beekeepers have reimbursed 200,000 rubles for equipment costs,” said Ilshat Fazrakhmanov.

As Bashinform News Agency reported earlier, Bashkiria is the leader among Russian regions in honey production.

In general, 6.7 thousand tons of honey were produced in the republic last year. Its share in the Russian market is 10%.

More than 12 thousand people are engaged in beekeeping in Bashkiria, which contains over 300,000 bee colonies. Of these, about 90% are kept in personal subsidiary plots.

Earlier, Bashinform News Agency reported that 20 million rubles from the budget would be allocated to support beekeeping in the republic.
