Vladimir Putin called price control particularly important

During a meeting with the head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, Maxim Shaskolsky, Vladimir Putin said that the FAS has many tasks, one of which is price control.

“Now, this is especially important. At the moment, we are keeping inflation within certain limits, and it has a downward trend,” the Russian President said.

Shaskolsky told the Head of State about regulating prices for socially significant goods, including food and medicine.

“We have done the work, and as a result, the margins on socially important food products in national retail chains have decreased from 22 to 5.5 percent. 79 regional retail chains also supported such responsible pricing. Additional work has been carried out, and national retail chains have pledged to maintain a margin of no more than five percent for the most popular goods in each category. We are also working on medicines. There is a list of vital, essential drugs, for which we have revised 14,000 prices, of which an average of 35 percent has reduced 7,000”, said the head of the FAS.

He noted the situation with building materials, the prices of which are declining due to the measures taken.
