Bashkiria plans to modernize five thermal power plants. Developing industries, enterprises in the special economic zone, and new areas in cities require a constant increase in electricity capacity. The power plants of the republic generated more than 24.42 billion kWh of electricity in January-November 2022.
Head of Bashkiria Radiy Khabirov wrote about plans for energy development on his social media.
Power unit No. 3 of Karmanovskaya GRES was launched after modernization on December 7, 2022. This is the first facility in Bashkortostan and one of the first in Russia to be included in the presidential program for the comprehensive modernization of power plants. After replacing all the main units, the unit will increase power and electricity generation while consuming fuel more economically.
As noted in the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Bashkortostan, this is only the beginning. In the next five years, it is planned to upgrade the Ufimskaya CHPP-2 and CHPP-4, the Priufimskaya CHPP in Blagoveshchensk, and the Sterlitamakskaya and Novo-Sterlitamakskaya CHPPs.
Modernization of the energy system is necessary for Russia for further economic development. Meanwhile, at the end of the year, some Russian media began to publish articles with high-profile headlines about the country's historic high in electricity prices. The increase in electricity prices was associated with a significant decrease in nuclear power generation due to scheduled and unscheduled repairs. Generating companies included thermal plants whose energy became more expensive due to rising gas prices. The result was an increase in the wholesale price of electricity.
This information did not go unnoticed by experts. Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov commented on the articles and said that electricity tariffs for the population are regulated by the state and do not depend on price changes in the wholesale market. Indexation of tariffs for the people takes place under the forecast of the socio-economic development of Russia.
According to the minister, the peak values of electricity prices were local and short-lived. As of December 25, prices have already returned to their typical values for this period.
