The harvest of sugar beet in Bashkiria exceeded 1 million tons, the Ministry of Agriculture of the republic reported.
“Agrarians from 18 beet-growing regions harvested 36,000 hectares of sugar beets. With an average yield of almost 30 tons per hectare, sugar beet growers harvested 1 million 72 thousand tons of root crops,” the press service of the regional agricultural department stated.
At the same time, the largest harvest of sugar beets was in the Chishminsky district - more than 210 thousand tons. The best yields are shown by the farms of the Ufimsky region, where an average of 36.5 tons of sweet root crops are harvested from each hectare.
The Raevsakhar Company and the Chishminsky sugar plant have processed almost 360 thousand tons of beets now. In total, both plants produced 54,000 tons of sugar.
The Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, announced the need to create an emergency supply of sugar in the region for various occasions, as Bashinform reported.
“Our market must always be filled with sugar; we can do it. Sugar production is high-tech, and therefore it is necessary to constantly modernize the Raevsky sugar plant,” Radiy Khabirov said at the operational meeting of the government.
In total, this year it is planned to produce 275,000 tons of sugar in Bashkiria, with a demand of 90,000 tons.
“In 2022, we sowed sugar beets on an area of 44,000 hectares, next year we plan 50,000 hectares,” Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Agriculture Ilshat Fazrakhmanov added.
