Employment in small and medium-sized businesses hit historical maximum

In August 2022, the number of employees in the field of small and medium-sized businesses reached 28 million people. Growth at the beginning of the year amounted to 2.5 million employees, or 9.8%, according to the analytical service of the FinExpertiza audit and consulting network based on data from the Ministry of Economic Development. This is approximately 38.6% of all employees in the Russian labor market.

Most employment in small and medium-sized businesses increased in Chechnya (by 91.1%) and Dagestan (by 88.5%). However, the share of regions employed in small and medium-sized businesses increased only to 19.5% and 19.1%, respectively, which is two times two times lower than the average Russian indicator.

In Bashkiria, the number of people employed in SMEs has increased by 41,569 people or 8.1% since the beginning of the year. In absolute terms, only the Nizhny Novgorod region is ahead, where 49,295 people have grown (or 8.4%). According to the study, in August 2022, more than 554 thousand people were employed in this area in Bashkiria.

The minimum growth was observed in the Nenets Autonomous District (by 0.4%), in the Sakhalin Region (by 4%), and in the Komi and Arkhangelsk Regions (by 4.6%).

Earlier, Bashinform News Agency reported about a large-scale set of support measures available to small and medium-sized businesses. In 2022, the amount allocated for state support of entrepreneurship in the republic is about 1 billion rubles.
