Bashkiria ranks second among Russian regions in beef production

The republic ranks second in beef production among the regions of Russia. Deputy Prime Minister of the Government - Minister of Agriculture of Bashkortostan Ilshat Fazrakhmanov at a plenary meeting of the State Assembly RB, said that over the past year, about 406 thousand tons of livestock and poultry meat (in live weight for slaughter) or 96.7% of the plan (plan 419, 4 thousand tons) were produced.

The decrease in the indicator "realization of live weight for slaughter" by 3.1% (or minus 8 thousand tons) compared to the previous year was caused by an increase in the number of breeding cattle sold by farms for breeding purposes.

The decrease in the number of livestock in the households by 5.9% is justified by the general decline in the rural population, the lack of fodder after the drought, and the transition of large household plots to Agrostartup projects (in 2020, Agrostartup grants were received by 30 projects for the development of dairy and beef cattle breeding, following the results of the current years - 24 projects).

An increase in the number of pigs by 10.4% in agricultural organizations with a high level of biosecurity and its simultaneous reduction in households by 19.3% has a positive effect on the epizootic situation in our region.

Large investment projects of the Ural and Bashkir meat companies were implemented to develop beef cattle breeding in 2021. For 5 months of this year, 5.2 thousand tons of meat have already been produced. Three feedlots per 1,000 livestock places have been put into operation in beef cattle breeding. Taking into account the duration of production cycles in beef cattle breeding, reaching the design capacity is expected in 2023. In the Kuyurgazinsky district, the construction of the Bashkir Limousine feedlot for 4,800 livestock.
