Parallel imports are legalized in Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the legalization of parallel imports in the country. The document is published on the official portal of legal information.

The law protects Russian companies that import foreign goods without the permission of the copyright holder from civil, administrative, and criminal liability.

In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation is now vested with the right to refuse to apply certain provisions for the protection of exclusive rights to various categories of products.

Recall that without the permission of the copyright holder, more than 50 groups of goods from over 200 brands will be sold in Russia. This includes, for example, smartphones, Apple watches and headphones, Samsung, Nokia, Sony, Siemens, HP gadgets and electronics, Huawei and Lenovo printers, scanners, Land Rover, Jeep, Jaguar, Chrysler, Bentley, Cadillac, Tesla, Volvo, Skoda, Toyota, and Nissan.
