The petrochemical industry of Bashkortostan is the backbone of the economy not only of the republic but of Russia as a whole, Prime Minister Andrey Nazarov said today at the strategic session "Oil and Gas Complex of Russia: Development Trends, Challenges and Forecasts". It was held as part of the 30th anniversary “Gas. Oil. Technology" International Exhibition-Forum.
According to him, over the 90-year history of Bashkir oil, 250 fields have been discovered in the republic.
“The volume of crude oil production in Bashkortostan at the end of 2021 amounted to 11.6 million tons, which is 7.7 percent higher than in 2020. We can say that this is a good indicator and oil production is being restored. The oil and gas and chemical industries are coping with their tasks, despite the sanctions of Western countries and other challenges. Oil refining has also reached pre-pandemic levels and is showing growth. The complex was actively working on import substitution, many industries were opened that produce domestic equipment and materials. Today's launch of the production of hydrocracking catalysts is a confirmation of this, and earlier these products had to be purchased in other countries. I would like to note a large number of promising investment projects at Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat. Bashkortostan is among the leaders in the production of light oil products, motor gasoline, and diesel fuel. At the same time, the depth of processing in our country is 88.6%, which is five percent higher than in the whole country. For many types of chemical products, the republic is in the top three,” Andrey Nazarov said.
The Prime Minister noted that out of 10 residents of the Alga SEZ, four are petrochemically oriented. Industry enterprises also receive support under the first package of support measures to the economy amid sanctions.
