Russian residents will be able to buy any cash currency, except for dollar and euro from May 20
From May 20, 2022, banks will sell any cash foreign currency to citizens without restrictions, except for US dollars and euros. This is stated in the statement of the Central Bank.
The permission to sell without restrictions the currency other than the US dollar and the euro is due to the fact that banks have balances of foreign banknotes, the statement said.
The current restrictions on the sale of US dollars and euros in cash remain - until September 9, 2022, citizens can only buy those US dollars and euros that have been received by banks since April 9, 2022. Previously, these restrictions applied to all types of cash currency.
