Russia has enough stocks of sugar and buckwheat to meet domestic demand, Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko said in her report to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

In addition, in 2022, the sown area for sugar beet and buckwheat will increase, RIA Novosti quotes Abramchenko.

“Now I want to reassure our citizens: we fully provide ourselves with both sugar and buckwheat. No need to panic and buy these products. There are enough of it for everyone. Excessive demand only destabilizes the commodity distribution network. I emphasize that the reserves of sugar and buckwheat in the country are enough to meet domestic demand,” the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian government said.

Thus, it is planned to increase the sowing of buckwheat and sugar beet this year "by an average of 50,000 hectares."

“This means that the new harvest will ensure the availability of sugar and buckwheat on the shelves in stores, and Russian confectioners and bakers will receive the necessary amount of sugar,” Victoria Abramchenko explained and stressed that the Russian agro-industrial complex fully provides the country with basic food products. “There are no prerequisites for a shortage of food in the face of sanctions pressure. In addition, we continue to expand the supply of imports from friendly countries to saturate the market and increase the range.”

As Bashinform News Agency previously reported with reference to the statement of the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Agriculture of Bashkiria Ilshat Fazrakhmanov, the price of sugar would fall, the hype around it had been artificially created.
