Trade with countries that imposed sanctions on Russia in connection with a special operation in Ukraine accounted for 35% of the total foreign economic turnover. This niche has to be filled.
The foreign trade turnover of Bashkiria in 2021 amounted to $4.6 billion (+13.2% compared to 2020). Exports grew by 18% and amounted to $3.7 billion, imports decreased by 3% to $900 million. Non-commodity non-energy exports (NOE) in total amounted to $2.5 billion (+34.3% by 2020). This was a historical maximum since 2016 (the beginning of collecting data on the NOE), the Minister of Foreign Economic Relations RB Margarita Bolycheva said at a briefing session in the government.
The basis of exports was petroleum products and crude oil (31.8%), chemical products (23.6%), mechanical engineering (22.5%), food and raw materials (8.8%), timber and pulp and paper products (5, 1%), metals and products from them (4.5%).
Non-resource non-energy goods for export were sold by 914 Bashkir enterprises. More than 300 companies exported for the first time. The leaders managed to increase sales volumes many times over - these were Kronospan Bashkortostan, Bashkir Soda Company, Beloretsk Iron and Steel Works, Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant, Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat, Sintez-Kauchuk.
The export of chemical products (monocarboxylic acids, synthetic rubber, carbonates, nitrogen fertilizers) almost doubled. Also, the timber industry complex (plywood, lumber), metals and metal products (wire from non-alloyed steel, aluminum) doubled. The export of oil and fat products has tripled.
Exports of Bashkir enterprises to the United States in 2021 quadrupled compared to the previous year and reached $110 million due to the supply of light distillers, urea, plywood, and styrene-butadiene rubber.
Exports to Turkey doubled due to the growth in supplies of sunflower oil, butanol, plywood, and office furniture.
Deliveries of mainly chemical products to South Korea increased 16 times (light distillates, monophenols, isoprene rubber).
Exports to China grew by 4% and amounted to $816.9 million, to Kazakhstan - by 30% ($360 million), to Azerbaijan - by 57% ($49 million).
