Bashkiria suspends sugar export to other regions to reduce deficit and contain prices

The authorities of Bashkiria have agreed with sugar factories to temporarily suspend the supply of products to other regions of Russia. Producers of the sweet product went to meet the authorities and temporarily reoriented themselves to the republican market.

“According to retailers, over the past four days, the demand for granulated sugar has increased by 2.3, and somewhere by 5 times,” Minister of Trade and Services RB Alexey Gusev said. “We are not talking about a shortage, it's just that many manufacturers do not have time to ensure the delivery of goods and their unloading promptly. At the same time, retailers themselves increased the volume of sugar purchases several times to meet increased demand.”

It should be noted that Bashkiria is one of the leading regions in the production of beet sugar. Last year, self-sufficiency in this product of our republic exceeded 200%.
