New green food market is emerging in Russia

The law “On agricultural products, raw materials and foodstuffs with improved features” came into force in Russia. It is aimed at developing the market for such goods in our country and increasing their accessibility to consumers.

The law, in particular, defines the basic requirements for the production of improved agricultural products, foodstuffs, industrial and other products. Among them agro-industrial and other technologies that comply with established environmental, sanitary-epidemiological, veterinary, and other requirements and have a minimal negative impact on the environment, the use of recyclable and biodegradable packaging and packaging materials, a ban on the use of cloning and genetic engineering methods, ionizing radiation, according to the website of the country's agricultural department.

A distinctive feature of such products will be a graphic sign - "Green Standard". Manufacturers will be able to place it on their products after receiving the appropriate certificate. Roskachestvo is an accredited certification body.

“The concept of organic products in our country appeared at the legislative level two years ago, and today more than 100 manufacturers have already been certified in Russia. I am convinced that products with the Green Standard label also have great prospects in the domestic market. It not only guarantees a high-quality standard but will also be quite affordable for the mass consumer,” Deputy Minister of Agriculture Maxim Uvaydov stressed.
