Yum! Brands is suspending operations of KFC-owned restaurants in Russia and is finalizing an agreement to suspend all Pizza Hut restaurants in partnership with its master franchisee. This was reported on the company’s website.
As stated in the official statement of KFC, the company links this decision with the events in Ukraine.
"This action builds on our decision to suspend all investment and restaurant development in Russia and redirect all profits from operations in Russia to humanitarian efforts," the statement explains.
In general, there are about a thousand KFC fast food restaurants and 50 Pizza Hut pizzerias in Russia. Of these, 19 KFC restaurants are accounted for Bashkiria by the beginning of 2022.
Earlier, McDonald's announced its decision to suspend the operation of its restaurants. Only in Bashkiria there are 12 of them.
Meanwhile, in Bashkiria, they have already found replacement to McDonald's and KFC, which are closing due to sanctions.
“One of the companies that was represented at an Investment Hour session can easily replace both McDonald's and KFC. Our small companies that produce products from our raw materials are just becoming in demand. We can fully compensate this market. We don’t see any problems here,” Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture of Bashkiria Ilshat Fazrakhmanov stated on March 9 at a briefing session in the government.
