“We have been supporting this project at various levels for several years. In 2020, at the visiting Industrial Hour session in Tuymazy, for the first time, we discussed the prospects for the development of a cluster that would unite furniture manufacturers in the west of the republic,” Radiy Khabirov said. “We are accustomed to the fact that the republic has high competencies in petrochemicals, oil production and processing, aircraft and engine building. However, we can do more than just that. All the more pleasant is the success of our enterprises in other industries.”
The cluster was created at the anchor resident, the Korona company in Tuymazy, one of the leaders in Russia in the production of mattresses and beds. In addition to Korona, the cluster includes manufacturers of upholstered furniture, fittings, and components for its production, the Corporation for the Development of Bashkortostan, the Ufa technopark PromCenter and the Ufa forestry technical school.
At the end of December, documents were submitted to include the Bashkir furniture cluster in the federal register of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, which will allow resident enterprises to count on serious state support.
“Bashkortostan is following the path of creating clusters in various areas. We are creating aviation, agro-industrial, machine-building clusters, and others. Such associations will help us solve the problems of import substitution and increase investment attractiveness. Bashkortostan is the first region in Russia in which a regional Association of Industrial Clusters has been established,” the Head of the Republic summed up.
