In 2022, at the request of the Ministry of Forestry of Bashkiria, Rosleskhoz will conduct space monitoring of forest use on the territory of 25 forestries on a total area of 4.9 million hectares.
Continuous remote monitoring is carried out in Belokataisky, Beloretsky, Burzyansky, Duvansky, Makarovsky, Salavatsky, Ufimsky, Uchalinsky, Yanaulsky forestries.
In 2021, 3.2 million hectares of forests were monitored from space on the territory of 15 forestries; in 2020 - 2.1 million hectares (40% of the forest fund). Space monitoring makes it possible to prevent illegal logging effectively, the Ministry of Forestry explained, as well as monitor the state of the forest fund and fires.
“Systematic monitoring of forest use based on contour and analytical interpretation of aerospace survey materials is very effective in preventing crimes under Art. 260 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. It also allows tracking whether cutting is carried out following legal acts, establishing changes that have arisen during the operation of forests, especially as a result of clear felling. In addition, informing tenants and officials of forestries about constant remote monitoring largely disciplines them and positively affects the forest violations dynamics,” Yunir Sadykov, head of the federal state forestry and fire supervision department of the Ministry of Forestry RB, commented.
