Russians will begin to receive indexed social benefits, including maternity capital since February 1

From February 1, the size of several social payments, benefits and compensations for Russians will increase by 8.4%. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree on this issue, the Cabinet said in a statement.

It relates to payments received by the disabled, veterans, Chernobyl victims, Heroes of Russia, as well as citizens injured at work. Indexation will also affect some benefits that are due to families with children. These payments include a one-time allowance for the birth of a child, a monthly allowance for caring for a child, and a one-time allowance for transferring a child to a fostering family. The amount of maternity capital for the first child will also increase - from 483.9 thousand rubles to 524.5 thousand rubles, and for the second and subsequent children - up to 693.1 thousand rubles.

“It is important that everyone who is entitled to such assistance receive it promptly and in full,” Mikhail Mishustin said at a Cabinet meeting on January 27.

Recall that since 2018, a unified procedure for indexing social benefits has been established in Russia - once a year from February 1, based on the current consumer price index for the previous year.
