Putin instructed to increase pensions to military since January 1, 2022

Military pensions will be indexed by 8.6 percent. The President stated this at a meeting of the Security Council.

According to RIA Novosti, he recalled that since January 1, civil pensions had been increased by this amount. At the same time, it was planned to raise payments to the military and those equivalent to them by four percent since October 1 this year.

"Instead, I propose the following solution here, namely: to index the pensions of military pensioners and persons equated to them as early as January 1 of this year, and not by 4 percent, as was envisaged, but at a higher rate - by 8.6 percent, like for all other pensioners. I repeat, this is higher than the actual inflation over the past year," the President stressed.

January payments will be recalculated. Vladimir Putin instructed the government to work out this decision shortly. Payments must be made with the subsequent pension.

The changes will affect more than 2.6 million people, including the retired Ministry of Internal Affairs employees, the Russian Guard, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Prosecutor General's Office, the Investigative Committee, and other law enforcement agencies.
