Deputies of the State Assembly of Bashkiria will adopt a bill to develop rural tourism in the republic in the final reading at a plenary session on November 25.
They will supplement the republican law with a corresponding concept and include rural tourism among the priority directions of tourism development.
Following federal legislation, rural tourism means visiting rural areas, small towns with a population of up to thirty-thousand people for the purpose of recreation, familiarization with the traditional way of life, familiarization with activities, and participation in agricultural work without deriving material benefits with the possibility of obtaining temporary services, accommodation, organization of leisure, excursion, and other services.
According to the Speaker of the Parliament, Konstantin Tolkachev, rural tourism development is a global trend and a potential source of income for villages and small towns.
According to the World Tourism Organization, rural tourism is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world economy.
