Annual food inflation in Bashkiria reaches 10.68%

Experts explain that the reason is the continuing growth of producers' costs and the reduction in the supply of vegetables.

Compared to September, prices in October increased by 1%. A severe drought in the summer of 2021 influenced a decrease in the supply of potatoes, white cabbage, and beets.

Due to the cold weather in September, greenhouses started the heating season earlier, leading to an increase in farms' energy costs. In addition, the costs of enterprises in this industry for fertilizers, equipment, and packaging increased.

The increase in the cost of feed and the unfavorable epizootic situation in several Russian regions - producers of poultry and eggs, led to growth in prices for these products and sausages and semi-finished poultry meat products.

At the same time, the growth of prices for sugar and sunflower oil slowed down - compared to the high prices of the previous year. The harvest of sugar beet and sunflower this year in the region was at the level of last year's volumes due to the large areas under crops.

Annual inflation in Bashkiria in October 2021 accelerated to 7.89% after 7.62% a month earlier. This is lower than in the Volga Federal District and Russia (8.35% and 8.13%, respectively).
