Bashkortostan grain growers harvested over 1.7 million tons of grain

The emergency regime will be announced throughout the republic; the relevant documents have already been prepared, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Agriculture of the Republic Ilshat Fazrakhmanov said today at a briefing session in the government of Bashkortostan.

According to him, due to the abnormal heat, the situation looks much worse than in 2010.

As the preliminary estimates show, the drought affected 624 farms on an area of 616 thousand hectares, including 332 thousand hectares perished.

Harvesting works were started 16-18 days ahead of time.

"To date, throughout the country, grain and leguminous crops have been threshed from an area of 1 million 266 thousand hectares, or 82%, 1 million 727 thousand tons have been threshed", Ilshat Fazrakhmanov said.

More than 90% of the area of grain and leguminous crops has been threshed in eight districts.

The leaders in the yield of grain crops are Karmaskalinsky (25 c/ha), Aurgazinsky (24.6 c/ha), Chekmagushevsky (22 c/ha), Sterlitamaksky (18.6 c/ha) districts. The republic's farmers plan to complete the harvesting of grain by the end of the week.

The Head of Bashkortostan thanked the agricultural workers for their work in such difficult conditions and instructed the Prime Minister of the Government Andrei Nazarov to pay out all arrears to the agro-industrial complex of the republic by the end of the year.
