Investment phase of waste recycling reform has begun in Bashkiria: Andrei Nazarov

According to the Prime Minister of the Government of Bashkiria, Andrei Nazarov, now regional operators are engaged in constructing waste sorting complexes and modern landfills.

The problem with waste recycling was also raised on Direct Line with Russian President Vladimir Putin on June 30.

According to him, much work is going on throughout the country as part of the garbage reform. 60 million waste is accumulated annually. The first investments have already gone into a separate waste collection in the amount of 10 million tons and processing of 3 million tons. In the coming years, incineration plants are to be launched, construction of five is already planned, while the Russian government is considering expanding this program.

As Andrei Nazarov noted, Bashkiria has set the task of becoming a leader in implementing the waste reform by 2024.

“Regional operators must create modern landfills, build waste sorting facilities, incineration plants, and other related infrastructure, so as not to accumulate, but to recycle and destroy the waste that is produced. As for the accumulated waste, the task is to liquidate spontaneous landfills, and this work is underway, ” Andrei Nazarov said.
