New production is launched at Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant today

Today, at the Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant (BMK), a ceremonial launch of production with new drawing equipment took place. Four mills worth 220 million rubles were purchased as part of an investment project to increase the efficiency of steel wire rope production.

The launch ceremony was attended by the Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mechel PAO Igor Zyuzin. The Head of the Republic noted that BMK experienced different periods in its history and sometimes challenging ones, and next year the plant would celebrate its 260th anniversary.

Modernization of the site for steel wire rope and metallurgical production significantly reduces the maximum permissible concentration of effluents into the Belaya River.

The first stage of comprehensive measures to reduce wastewater discharge was the modernization of the TsVP-16 shop with the transfer of technology to mechanical descaling with the closure of the pickling division. The project was implemented in 2018, 185 million rubles were invested in it. The second stage is the modernization of steel wire rope and metallurgical production. The total cost of the project will be 1.5 billion rubles. It was supported by the Industrial Development Fund, which allocated a preferential loan for 750 million rubles.

Managing Director of JSC “BMK” Sergey Fedorov said that drawing machines by the Italian company Mario Frigerio S.p.A - one of the oldest European manufacturers of technological equipment for metallurgical and metalware enterprises – had been installed in one of the steel wire shops of BMK. The productivity of each machine is up to 13 thousand tons of products per year. The new investment project will create 55 new jobs.

In total, by 2023, the plant will receive 12 new drawing mills, and this will be a new modern production facility that will produce high-quality, competitive products.

BMK is one of the three leading domestic manufacturers of metalware and is the only enterprise in Russia where microwires with a diameter of up to 0.009 mm are produced. In January-May 2021, the volume of shipped products amounted to about 13.8 billion rubles (170% to the same period in 2020), the production index - 118.5%. The production of rolled products increased by 24.8%, the production of metalware - 102.6%, including ropes - 107.7%.
