World-class Eurasian REC received 128 million ruble grant for 2021: Radiy Khabirov

Today, at a meeting of the Council of Scientific and Research Centers, the world-class Eurasian REC in Ufa received a grant of 128 million rubles for 2021. The Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, posted on his social media.

According to him, the republic has chosen four directions based on ten complex technological projects.

Thus, in the direction of "Advanced production technologies and engineering", the team of the Ufa Aviation University (USATU) and the Central Institute of Aviation Motors has created a high-speed electric generator, which is installed at the Yak-40LL flying laboratory. It will make Russian aviation more environmentally friendly by reducing emissions by 50-55% and improving the operational characteristics of aircraft.

"On December 1, 2020, the first flight of the MS-21 airliner with the PD-14 engine took place. USATU scientists have contributed to the PD-14 project: technologies have been developed for manufacturing innovative blades from titanium aluminide, mono-wheels, and hollow wide-chord blades," the Head of the Region wrote.

The second project in this area is a gas pumping unit based on a 25 MW AL-41ST gas turbine engine. It will be used by Gazprom company.

32 new loci and 192 genes associated with different subtypes of breast cancer were identified in the "Biomedicine and Genetics" area. This allows us to identify almost all the main causes of this type of cancer and targets for its treatment. The work was done with REC partners from Germany, Canada, Israel, Great Britain, Japan. This year we plan to open an oncogenomics laboratory at the Ufa Federal Research Center RAS, which will make it possible to select targeted therapy for the treatment of oncological diseases for several types of cancer (out of 500 types of therapy, only 4-5 types of treatment protocols are used in Russia)," Radiy Khabirov explained.

The Head of the Republic noted that a unique, smart decision support system for the appointment of personalized dialysis and drug therapy had been created and implemented in the regional centers of hemodialysis. By 2024, the republic plans to expand the scope of this digital solution for other diseases, integrating it with genetic test systems in Russia and abroad (China, Kazakhstan).

"A high rate of technological development cannot be achieved without transforming the scientific and educational landscape. We are currently forming three large clusters. This is a "large classical university" based at Bashkir State University and Ufa Aviation Technical University and a "poly-technological university" based on the oil technical and agricultural universities. Moreover, an ophthalmological cluster based on a medical university through the consolidation of resources of the Ufa Eye Diseases Research Institute and the "Alloplant" federal center. Universities support this transformation. Our team has a fighting spirit; we do not stop at this and going forward!", the Head of Bashkortostan noted.
