Bashkiria's foreign trade turnover grew by 14% in first quarter

In January-March, Bashkiria's foreign trade turnover amounted to $1.02 billion, which is 14% more than in the first quarter of 2020, the Bashkortostan Customs Office reported. Exports account for 84% - (in 2020 - 79%), imports - 16% (in 2020 - 21%).
The largest trade partner of the republic is China, with its share in the volume of foreign trade of Bashkiria of 23% (a year ago - 11%). The share of China in exports is 23%, in imports - 21%. In January - March 2020, China accounted for 6.1% of exports and 28% of imports.
Also, the top three in terms of export included Latvia (10% of foreign trade turnover) and Kazakhstan (8.3%); imports - Germany and Belarus (13% each).
Trade with the CIS countries increased by 21% in the first quarter.
The republic sold abroad mainly products of the fuel and energy complex ($ 325.4 million), machinery, equipment and mechanisms ($ 205.56), chemical products ($ 171.89 million).
In imports, a significant share accounts for machinery, equipment, and mechanisms ($ 68.77 million), chemical products ($ 46.99 million), food and raw materials for agriculture ($ 146.86 million).
In 2020, foreign trade turnover amounted to $ 3.92 billion, having decreased by 22% compared to 2019 - exports decreased significantly amid lockdown restrictions.
