Sibaysky quarry prospects will be determined within a month - head of Rosprirodnadzor

Alexey Ishimov, General Director of Sibaysky mining processing plant, at a meeting held in Uchaly by Svetlana Radionova, head of Rosprirodnadzor (Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources), spoke about the situation at the Sibaysky quarry. According to Alexey Ishimov, the combustion inside the rocks has been eliminated, but there are sulfurous gases on the surface in the sector above the flooded areas.

“We continue to raise the water level. The access of people to the workings is closed. The quarry has been mothballed, ” the director of the plant said.

The head of Rosprirodnadzor instructed them to prepare a plan for further eliminating environmental damage at the Sibaysky quarry.

“Since 2019, this object has been under my control. In order not to postpone the resolution of the issue until the end of the year, I propose to prepare a roadmap within a month and determine its further prospects,” Svetlana Radionova underlined. “I hope that there will be no more fires in the Sibaysky quarry”.
