Bashkiria authorities intend to halve number of unemployed

The number of officially registered unemployed in Bashkiria is planned to be reduced to 35-36 thousand people by the end of 2021. The First Deputy Minister of Family, Labor, and Social Protection RB Yuri Melnikov announced this at a hh.ru press conference "Labor market & Coronavirus: who will win?" on Thursday.

"35-36 thousand unemployed is the baseline forecast. The number of unemployed may be even less than this indicator if we work very closely with employers regarding the measures taken at the federal level,” Yuri Melnikov said, answering a question from Bashinform News Agency. "As for the overall unemployment, here we are faced with the task to return to the indicators of 2019, to the pre-pandemic period.

This is 4.4 percent of the unemployed of the total economically active population. This is a significant indicator for Bashkiria because it is the lowest in the last 26 years."

As the First Deputy Minister of Labor emphasized, the tension coefficient in the republican labor market, or the ratio of the number of registered unemployed to the number of declared vacancies, should also decrease to one.

“We are focused on the unequivocal revival of the labor market and improvement of its main indicators,” Yuri Melnikov concluded.

As the Bashinform News Agency previously reported, the peak values ​​for the number of unemployed in the region fell on October 2020. According to official data, there were then more than 129 thousand unemployed in Bashkiria.

Currently, the number of officially registered unemployed in the republic exceeds 67 thousand people. The unemployment rate fell during this time from 6.82 to 3.69 percent, the tension coefficient - from 3.5 to 1.4.
