Pork production is growing in Bashkiria

In 2020, in Bashkortostan, farms produced 106.7 thousand tons of pork for slaughter in live weight (in slaughter weight 85.9 thousand tons), an increase to the level of 2019 amounted to 116 percent. The provision of this type of meat in the region is 117 percent of the demand. By the way, pork production in live weight increased to 5.5 million tons nationwide in 2020.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia's forecast, the production of pig products in 2021 will increase by more than 4% while ensuring veterinary welfare. According to the General Director of the National Union of Pig Breeders, Yuri Kovalev, the increase in volumes will allow keeping the wholesale pork prices at the level of the previous year, even despite the increase in the cost of production. At the end of last year, outbreaks of African swine fever were recorded in several regions, making adjustments to the companies' production plans. Simultaneously, according to the union, the epidemiological situation at industrial enterprises is stable now and does not cause concern - isolated cases of the disease are observed only in the wild and private subsidiary farms.
The republican enterprises also plan to increase the volume of pork production. Pig breeding investment projects at Uralskaya Myasnaya Kompaniya LLC (with a design capacity of 15 thousand tons of pork in live weight per year) and Bashkirskaya Meatnaya Kompaniya LLC (capacity - 8 thousand tons of pork in live weight per year) will contribute to it, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Bashkortostan explained.
