Bashkiria plans to develop beet growing and increase sugar production

The Ministry of Agriculture of Bashkiria plans to develop beet growing and increase sugar production. Beet-growing areas are formed around two operating sugar factories - in Raevka and Chishmy. After modernization, each enterprise will process 6 thousand tons of raw materials per day. Already this season, the processing volumes will reach 5 thousand tons per day (until recently, four sugar factories processed a total of 9 thousand tons of root crops per day).

This was discussed at a seminar on the development of beet-growing regions. Chishminsky Sugar Factory JSC has invested over 1 billion rubles in the modernization of production and plans to invest another 1.7 billion rubles. "Raevsakhar" LLC is implementing a two-year modernization program with an investment of 470 million rubles this year and 457 million rubles in 2022.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, in the current season, the sowing of sugar beet will be increased to 35 thousand hectares (in 2020, 26 thousand hectares were planted). A further increase in areas is planned for 2022.

Yesterday, March 30, the Russian government extended the freeze on sugar prices until June 1 (for vegetable oil - until October 1). From December 20, 2020, to April 1, 2021, limit prices were set: sugar in wholesale - no more than 36 rubles/1 kg, in retail - no more than 46 rubles/1 kg; sunflower oil - not more than 95 rubles/1 kg in wholesale and not more than 110 rubles/1 kg in retail. These restrictions will affect the profits of retailers, experts say.
