"Ufa" submarine will be launched at end of 2021

The launch of the "Ufa" submarine under construction in St. Petersburg is scheduled for late 2021. This was reported by the United Shipbuilding Corporation. The submarine under construction is a project 636.3 large diesel-electric submarine. After completion of acceptance tests, the submarine will go to serve in the Pacific Fleet.

Project 636.3 belongs to the third generation of diesel-electric submarines, considered one of the world's quietest and most secretive. They are able to develop surface speed up to 20 knots, dive to about 300 m, their navigation autonomy reaches 45 days. Such a submarine crew consists of 52 people; its submerged displacement is about 4 thousand tons. Project 636.3 submarines are carriers of Kalibr-PL cruise missiles.
