Food prices increased in Bashkiria by 8% over year

In Bashkiria, food prices in February added 0.2 percentage points and increased by 8% compared to February 2020. This resulted from an increase in world prices for basic foodstuffs and a decrease in the volume of domestic supply of agricultural products, the National Bank of the republic explained.
Most of all, meat has risen in the price: this was primarily influenced by the increase in purchase prices for grain, which is why the prices for compound feed have become more expensive. Potatoes, carrots, beets, and onions continued to rise in price: stocks of root crops are decreasing due to the poor quality of last year's harvest and shorter shelf life. Simultaneously, the rate of growth in prices for fresh cucumbers and tomatoes, on the contrary, decreased - local producers developing greenhouses expanded their supply on the market.
Amid the rise in prices for products and the growth of attendance, prices in public catering have also increased.
The prices for sugar and sunflower oil stopped growing as a result of an agreement between the Russian government, manufacturers, and trade organizations.
Annual inflation in Bashkiria amounted to 5.4%, the rise in prices for services in February fell to 2.7%, the growth rate of prices in the non-food sector was 4.6% last month.
